- Rachna Kenia, MD is a board-certified Psychiatrist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with a private practice in the Flatiron neighborhood of New York City. She is trained in both medication management and talk therapy to treat a variety of adult disorders. She believes in a holistic approach that takes the entire person into account, taking time to make thoughtful and individualized suggestions.
Dr. Kenia received her medical training at SUNY Upstate University in Syracuse, NY and completed her residency in adult psychiatry at Mt. Sinai St. Luke's and Mt. Sinai West. She is currently pursuing further training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis through the William Alanson White Institute.
As the former Medical Director of the Center for Intensive Treatment of Personality Disorders (CITPD) at Mt. Sinai West, Dr. Kenia has the unique background necessary to help those with a diagnosis of a personality disorder as well as those with histories of trauma.
In addition, her training at Mt. Sinai St. Luke's Mt. Sinai West and her time working as a consulting psychiatrist at the William F. Ryan Center have provided Dr. Kenia with exposure to a variety of different disorders. She is comfortable and proficient at treating depression, anxiety, mood disorders as well as many other difficulties.
As a current member of the staff at the NYU Counseling and Wellness Services, Dr. Kenia has a special interest in the unique struggles of young adults and those in academia.
Dr. Kenia is active in the education of psychiatry residents, medical students and primary care physicians. She has taught and directed courses on: Psychotherapy, Diagnosis of Personality Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, OCD, PTSD & Trauma in Primary Care, Appropriate use of Anti-depressants in Primary Care, Appropriate use of Mood Stabilizers, and Borderline Personality Disorder.
