Summary

  • Dr. Kado is a board certified allergist and immunologist managing complications associated with immune dysfunction. She treats adults and with her additional training in pediatrics that provides her the unique ability to conduct thorough and extensive visits evaluating for various immune system dysfunctions that can be the harbingers of immunodeficiency, atopic dermatitis or signal the development of food allergies in children. Dr. Kado's strong foundation in immunology affords her a different perspective on the immunological influences of allergic diseases. This expertise led her to co-develop and co-manage the only combined allergy/dermatology/rheumatology clinic in the country. Patients are treated for the complications of severe atopic dermatitis and allergies, pathologies that are closely immunologically intertwined.

Recent research developments and publications from the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology show an association between atopic dermatitis and increased risk of peanut allergy. Dr. Kado runs a food allergy clinic devoted to exploring this theory by conducting food challenges on patients with suspected sensitivities. Dr. Kado spent years at the USDA researching and assessing the various conformational structures of peanut and tree nut proteins. Equipped with this background, Dr. Kado is ideally suited to apply this knowledge, and other emerging evidence, to the rapidly developing world of food allergies and their clinical implications. This clinic serves as an invaluable resource for patients and family members, particularly the parents of children with food allergies, providing a safe environment for evaluation and testing with oral challenge to allergic foods. In addition to assessing and diagnosing food allergies, Dr. Kado manages patients with myriad other food intolerances such as eosinophilic esophagitis or allergic proctocolitis
