Summary

  • I am a Board certified Allergist-Immunologist in consultation practice and teaching since 1976. My passion in the practice of medicine has been ‘Global Medicine.’ During the early years of my professional life, I was involved in providing care in respiratory medicine during my visits to my home country of India. This experience grew into establishing International Asthma Services (IAS), a nonprofit 501 c-3 organization registered in Colorado. IAS has been active in several countries: India, Kenya, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Philippines, USA, Fiji, and Argentina. The main aims are: 1) improve the care of patients with asthma and COPD around the globe, 2) transfer of technology, 3) train physicians and paramedical personnel, and 4) conduct research and provide free medications to the needy. IAS has evaluated more than 42,000 patients free of charge, and conducted more than 50 CMEs for physicians, nurses, and technicians. Since 2006, IAS, in partnership with Christian Medical College, Vellore TN, India, established the first formal ‘Diploma in Allergy and Asthma’ training program. This Diploma program has attracted national and international recognition, and has students from all regions of India, as well as neighboring countries.
