Dr. Guru graduated from SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack in Odisha, India. He is an alumnus of PGIMER, Chandigarh, India where he obtained his MD in Internal Medicine and DM in Nephrology. He is also board certified in Internal Medicine (Creighton Univ, Omaha, NE), Nephrology (UPMC, Pittsburgh), and Critical Care Medicine (Mayo Clinic, Rochester) at USA. He subspecialized in ECMO and other Mechanical Circulatory Devices during his critical care training at the Mayo Clinic Rochester. He is currently the Director of Adult ECMO practice, Chair of Mortality Review Committee, and Program Director of Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic Florida. He was the MICU director from 2016-19 and member of ABIM question writing committee in 2021-22. He has been the course director of Mayo Clinic’s current concepts in the management of ECMO patients since 2017. His research interests include various fields in ECMO, critical care medicine and acute renal failure.
