Summary
- Phillip G. Rowse, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular surgery.
His clinical focus includes:
• Management of coronary artery disease with
an emphasis on utilizing total arterial
revascularization, redo coronary artery
bypass surgery and a special interest in
minimally invasive revascularization
procedures.
• Management of adult valvular heart disease
including utilization of TAVR technology and
robotic mitral valve repair
• Management of ascending aortic aneurysms
• Special interest in the surgical treatment of
hypertrophic cardiomyopathy including
extended trans-aortic and/or trans-apical
septal myectomy
• Surgical ablation of atrial fibrillation with
alternative energy sources including left atrial
appendage amputation/ligation
• Management of constrictive pericarditis,
including preoperative hemodynamic
optimization prior to complete
pericardiectomy.
In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Rowse is active in outcomes research and national clinical trials. He authors in high-impact surgical journals and contributes to the growing field of cardiac surgical education literature. He provides guided mentorship to medical students, general surgery residents, and cardiothoracic surgical fellows. He serves as the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Unit Medical Director for step down cardiac surgical patients and is engaged in a variety of quality improvement projects.
