Summary
- In my role as translational medicine head for respiratory and infectious diseases at the Novartis Institute for BioMedical Research (NIBR), I oversee early clinical development, including first-in-human and proof-of-concept studies, for respiratory diseases and for anti-infective agents related to tropical diseases. I co-chair the decision boards that govern and set the strategy for these portfolios. My team of physicians works closely with both the research and development groups. In addition, I chair the safety board that approves first-in-human studies and enrollment of vulnerable subjects into clinical studies across all therapeutic areas and company divisions. During my career, I have worked in early and late stage drug development, including Phase 1, 2, 3, and 4 studies, supporting marketing efforts by commercial groups, and interacting with regulatory and health authorities.
