    Peter J. Martin MD, FACS is a retired Navy Captain with over 25 years of active service who currently serves as the National Physician Lead for the Kaiser Permanente Military Health Program.
    He is a head and neck cancer surgeon in San Diego, CA and is affiliated with Kaiser Foundation Hospital-San Diego. Dr. Martin received his medical degree from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine and has been in practice 35 years. He has participated in multiple shipboard deployments including supporting forces in Beirut, Lebanon and in support of Operation Desert Storm. He also served as Director for Surgical Services, Naval Medical Center San Diego, the largest surgical enterprise in the Department of Defense.
    Following his Navy retirement, Dr. Martin joined Kaiser Permanente as Chief of Head and Neck Surgery as well as Regional Lead for Head and Neck Cancer in Southern California. Most recently, as Assistant Area Medical Director for Surgical Services in San Diego, he has championed programs between Navy Medicine and Kaiser San Diego to strengthen graduate medical education (GME) of residents, operational readiness of staff surgeons, and clinical experience for critical care staff.
    Dr. Martin still practices as an Emeritus Surgeon providing surgical assistance for complex cancer cases.
    He specializes in head & neck microvascular surgery, head & neck oncologic surgery, head & neck plastic surgery, transoral laser microsurgery (TLM) and transoral robotic surgery (TORS). He has more than 10 publications and over 200 citings.
