Summary
- I have been practicing general primary care internal medicine in five states, eight settings after completing residency at Johns Hopkins and UCSF, and a two year stint in the Army, before settling in Nassau County, Long Island, NY. Since 1981, I've practiced internal and geriatric medicine in Glen Cove, working at office, hospitals, SNFs, Rehab facilities, assisted living and adult homes. Since 2009, I've limited my practice to ambulatory outpatient medicine. Aside from enjoying more leisure time (golf, skiing, ocean sport, bridge, piano, reading), I spend time networking and writing for the purpose of resurrecting the 21st century GP--a system where the primary care doc advocating with the patient once again becomes the core of the health care delivery system. Baby boomers (of which I am the elder brother, being born at the cusp of the old and new worlds--1945) have pretty much made a mess of things. Perhaps, I can accomplish something worthwhile for my daughters' generation. At age 77, I am one of the few approaching-extinction physicians that remains in private office practice. I will soon be searching for an excellent primary care physician who wants to be in charge of her/his professional life to take over my practice as well as purchase my medical office building. I know you're out their someplace.
