Dr. Peter Kummant is a general surgeon based in Prestonsburg, KY. He completed his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1984, followed by surgical residencies at Episcopal Hospital from 1984 to 1986 and UPMC Medical Education/Mercy from 1995 to 2001. He is semi-retired and does intermitent locums work at rural hospitals in need of staffing help. Dr. Kummant holds a CMS Meaningful Use Stage 1 Certification from MEDENT EMR/EHR and has been recognized as a Top MD by Consumers Checkbook. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, but has let his membership lapse because of the College's uncritical acceptance of transgender surgery on minors.
