Summary
- Peter T. Chang, M.D., is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine, where he has been a full-time faculty since 2004. He has been the director of the glaucoma fellowship since 2010. He obtained his medical degree from University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors. His ophthalmology residency was completed at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his fellowship in glaucoma at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Chang’s clinical interests include surgical treatment of glaucoma in adults and children as well as minimally invasive glaucoma surgery such as iStent, Hydrus, OMNI System, and XEN Gel Stent. He is one of only few specialists in the region who treat infantile/pediatric glaucoma. He was the inaugural recipient of the Baylor College of Medicine's Rising Star Clinician Award in 2014. He has also been recognized with the Dan B. Jones Teaching Award for excellence in resident education and has been listed in “The Best Doctors in America” on an annual basis since 2011. He was honored as the Distinguished Alumnus in 2023 for the Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology.
Additionally, Dr. Chang volunteers at the Tema Christian Eye Centre in Ghana each year, providing free clinical and surgical care to the underserved region of west Africa.
