  • Dr. Rusconi is Board Certified in Pediatrics (1993, 2001) and in Pediatric Cardiology (1998, 2007, 2018) and he is a member of the ACC and ISHLT. For 30 years my clinical and research activity has revolved around cardiac transplant and heart failure in children giving me the experience to be an effective contributor in this field. I have been part of the Pediatric Heart Transplant Society (PHTS) a multicenter study including the largest pediatric heart transplant programs in North America and Europe. Dr. Rusconi has been a member of the task-force that outlined the practice guidelines for the management of heart failure in children. Dr. Rusconi is an experienced physician in the area of pediatric heart failure secondary to cardiomyopathy, congenital heart disease and is the medical director of the pediatric heart failure and transplant program at the University of Miami. Dr. Rusconi’s area of research is the management of heart failure in the pediatric population. His experience with the use of beta-blockers, biomarkers and cardiac defibrillator is the management of heart failure in children has been published in leading scientific journals and the results of his research have been presented at national and international meetings. Dr. Rusconi has been an active member of the NHLBI- Pediatric Cardiomyopathy Registry, which was established to describe the epidemiologic features and clinical course of selected cardiomyopathies and to promote the development of etiology-specific treatments. Dr. Rusconi’s expertise in the area of heart failure, cardiomyopathy and heart transplantation make him an ideal collaborator in a project that aims provide a better understanding of some of the most threatening complications in pediatric heart transplant. In March 2012 in recognition of his clinical and research activities Dr. Rusconi received the Berenson Chair in Pediatric Cardiology.
