- Paola Gonzalez MPAS, PA-C is a bilingual clinical provider for over 20 years in unique diverse Hospital, Medical and Private Practice settings in multiple specialties. PA Gonzalez has extensive practice experience with Latino populations, health promotion, and disparities. As a first-generation immigrant from Colombia, she was able to see the health deficiencies in our Latino community and the language barriers that many people face day to day. She has a passion for growing her knowledge and skills. She thrives in helping others, especially those communities who face diminished resources and healthcare disparities. She is helping to educate clinical providers and the community about these issues across diverse populations. She currently serves as President for PAs for Latino Health (PALH) a Caucus of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) and actively practices in Breast Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
PA Gonzalez has previously served as the PALH Director at Large, Board Member in the Public Relations, Membership and CME Chair positions. She served the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants as the Head of the Cultural Diversity Committee.
She served as the AAPA Representative for the National Advisory Committee for Mi Hermana-Latina Health Champions with the Healthy Americas Foundation. Additionally, she was appointed to serve as a member of the AAPA Commission on the Health of the Public.
She served as Clinician Champion for PERC-Med a collaboration between UC Davis and US EPA’s Office; where she worked with healthcare providers on awareness of pesticide exposure.
She worked as a clinical preceptor in the physical diagnosis course for the Baylor College of Medicine PA Program. She is actively involved in mentoring healthcare providers and encourages medical Spanish as an integral part of healthcare to promote effective communication and reduce barriers with the Latino community.
