My background is in literature, philosophy and writing. I am also a competitive athlete who loves to run, race bikes and compete in triathlons. I therefore believe in the power of stories and the power of goal setting. I feel that my role as a physician is to listen carefully and then support my patients in crafting their own health and life into a story they will love. I challenge my patients (just as I do myself) to set goals that might initially scare them, but will ultimately support them in leading fuller, more joyful lives. My areas of interest are family medicine, mental health, sports medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, women's health, adolescent health and care for LGBTQ individuals, including transgender care, PrEP and HIV care. I love being a part of Kaiser Permanente because of the great teamwork among physicians, social workers, nurses, medical assistants and administrators. The focus on patient wellness and evidence-based medicine makes my job better daily
