  • Dr. Omar Khan is President & CEO of the Delaware Health Sciences Alliance, which brings together leading institutions in Delaware and the state's 2 partner medical schools in Philadelphia. The DHSA includes ChristianaCare (one of the largest health systems in the country), Nemours Children's Hospital, University of Delaware, Thomas Jefferson University (incl. Sidney Kimmel Medical College), Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Delaware State University, Bayhealth, Beebe Medical Center, Delaware Technical Community College, and the Delaware Academy of Medicine.

    Dr. Khan also serves as the Enterprise Chief Scientific Officer & VP of scientific affairs at ChristianaCare. He previously served as Service Line Chair for Primary Care and as Medical Director of the Eugene duPont Preventive Medicine Institute, also at ChristianaCare. He is trained in Family Medicine from the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine and in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.

    Dr. Khan maintains a clinical teaching practice in family medicine in Delaware in addition to his executive responsibilities. He holds appointments as Professor of Family & Community Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University and PCOM, and is active in leadership roles on NIH-funded infrastructure grants in Delaware and Puerto Rico. He has an active interest in global health & health policy, having written or edited 6 books in the field including service as Editor in Chief of the Control of Communicable Diseases Clinical Manual. He is also Editor in Chief of the PubMed indexed & peer-reviewed Delaware Journal of Public Health (www.djph.org) and reviews for several others.
