    After graduating valedictorian from the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in molecular biology, neuroscience, and economics, Dr. Ayyash completed his residency in urology at the University of Pittsburgh. During this time, he also earned a master’s of public health in biostatistic and epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. He subsequently completed fellowship in pediatric urology at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

    His interests include pediatric and adolescent urologic diseases with an emphasis on complex reconstruction for hypospadias, vesicoureteral reflux, spina bifida and neurogenic bladders, hydronephrosis, megaureter, and urethral strictures. He specializes in robotic, microsurgical, and endoscopic approaches to treat congenital anomalies of the kidney including UPJ obstruction, kidney stones, and varicoceles.

    His research interests broadly focus on quality improvement and health services with publications ranging from predictors of stone passage in pediatric patients to the impact of mental health disorders on the survival of bladder cancer patients. Due to his graduate school training, he is proficient in biostatistics and study design. He currently serves as the research manager for the division of pediatric urology.
