Her academic journey began with graduating summa cum laude from The Ohio State University at the age of 19 with a BS in biochemistry, alongside minors in French and Music. Following a year of intensive research at the National Institutes of Health, she finished the combined MD/PhD program at University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Choi then completed her dermatology residency at top-ranked University of California San Francisco (UCSF), where she served as Chief Resident in her final year.
Dr. Choi's commitment to advancing dermatological knowledge is evident through her numerous publications, presentations at national meetings, and leadership in clinical trials. As a physician scientist, she has led the development of several ground breaking clinical trials in immunodermatology at Johnson & Johnson. She was a scholar in the prestigious Advancing Innovation in Dermatology Program that was founded by physicians at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Choi is also a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Dermatology, Women's Dermatologic Society, and Skin of Color Society, where she actively mentors medical students and residents.
