Summary
- Nina A. Goyal, M.D. is a Chicago native and has been a member of the Rush Ophthalmology team since 2003. She joined University Ophthalmology Associates after completing her Glaucoma fellowship with University Eye Specialists in 2007. Dr. Goyal specializes in complex cataract surgeries and the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, including expertise in Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) techniques.
Dr. Goyal pursued her medical education at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She returned to Rush University in Chicago to complete her residency in ophthalmology, where she also served as chief resident. During this time, she earned a research grant from the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness and was a recipient of the Beem-Fisher Research Award. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from Benedictine University, where she was awarded a full tuition President’s Scholarship and competed on their Division III Women’s tennis team.
Dr. Goyal is a member of numerous professional and community organizations. She has participated in cataract and glaucoma surgery mission trips to Honduras.
She is board certified and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American Glaucoma Society, Chicago Ophthalmologic Society, Women in Ophthalmology and is President-Elect for the Illinois Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, the Ophthalmology State Society. She participates in advocacy work for the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Goyal has served as a course instructor at several local and national Academy of Ophthalmology meetings, earning an Achievement Award. She is dedicated to resident teaching and serves as an Assistant Professor in the Rush Ophthalmology department where she lectures to residents and provides surgical education.
