Summary

  • I'm a board certified surgeon with specialty training in Colon and Rectal Surgery. While I focus on the overall surgical care of patients with colon and rectal issues, I am specifically interested and have expertise in minimally invasive approaches to the surgical management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), and colon and rectal cancers.

I am also the Regional Vice Chair of Quality, Safety, and Outcomes, which allows me to focus my nonclinical time on supporting initiatives to promote patient safety and the use of up-to-date, evidence-based practices in surgery across for our health care system.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Duke University before obtaining my medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Ultimately, I completed a surgical residency in General Surgery, followed by a year of specialty training in colon and rectal surgery at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Before joining MedStar Health, I was an academic surgeon at the University of North Carolina for the first part of my career.
