Summary
- I am both American Board of Internal Medicine certified and a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, a career-long active member of the American College of Physicians, and more recently of the Obesity Medicine Association.
I have 20 yrs of inpatient and outpatient experience practicing high quality Internal Medicine primary care, managing patients’ acute and chronic diseases with compassion. As a hospital-employed primary care physician I practiced evidenced-based medicine with a team approach- working closely with physician colleagues, advanced practice providers, our nursing team, social workers, and dietitians to provide superb patient-centered health care. I am proficient in both EMR documentation and delivering telemedicine.
As a current Fidelis Care Medical Director I use a similar team approach, working with physician colleagues, our nursing team, and pharmacists, to aid in delivering evidence based health care to New Yorkers with greatest need. My role also includes teaching nurses, presenting to colleagues, policy writing, and offers volunteer opportunities in the community.
During my years working as a clinical physician and subsequently as a Medical Director, I have learned our current American health care model is certainly focused on "sick-care", treating chronic disease and obesity co-morbidities such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, sleep apnea, reflux disease, and arthritis pain. I have developed a passion to prevent these conditions by focusing on treating the common underlying disease: obesity. I am excited to announce the opening of my own solo clinical telehealth Obesity Medicine practice in 2023!
