  • Dr. Nicholas Sgrignoli is an Assistant Attending Physician at Hospital for Special Surgery. He is fellowship-trained and board certified in sports medicine.

    Dr. Sgrignoli sees patient of all ages and especially enjoys helping young athletes return to sports. He believes that exercise is essential to good health and his goal is to help patients of all ages return to activities as quickly as possible using nonsurgical techniques. He is comfortable managing acute injuries, fractures, as well as chronic overuse injuries and arthritis.

    He completed his undergraduate training at Messiah College in central Pennsylvania. He received his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine and proceeded to complete a Family Medicine Residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. There he fell in love with sports medicine and went on to finish his training in sports medicine at UC San Diego Health.

    While at UCSD, Dr. Sgrignoli was the team physician for all UCSD sports including soccer, basketball, rugby and lacrosse. Some highlights included covering college and professional soccer as well as Kerri Walsh Jennings' P1440 volleyball tournament and the San Diego Seals professional indoor lacrosse.

    Dr. Sgrignoli has many interests including volleyball, soccer, and Gaelic football. He is also an avid snowboarder and has good experience managing ski and snowboard injuries.
