  • Dr. Nicholas Metrus is a neurologist/neuro-oncologist with Atlantic
    Medical Group Neuroscience Associates. He is a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients
    with brain tumors and conditions of the central nervous system. Dr. Metrus is part of a medical team
    that works together to provide exceptional personalized care for every patient using a multidisciplinary
    and comprehensive approach. His commitment to individualized care includes designing and
    overseeing each patient’s treatment plan, which can include any combination of chemotherapy, target
    therapy, and immunotherapy.

    Throughout his medical education, Dr. Metrus devoted his time to cutting-edge research and
    publishing his work on topics such as paraneoplastic disorders, tumefactive multiple sclerosis, and
    clinical trial enrollment, to name a few. He has also published book chapters on ependymomas and
    advances in clinical trial design for brain tumors. He pursed his fellowship training in neuro-oncology
    at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he was the 2018 recipient of a research grant, the William
    James Miller Endowed Fellowship Award, for his work in Guillain Barre Syndrome following stem
    cell transplants, and again in 2019 for his description of unique presentations of cancer in the brain.
    His research on hypermutator gliomas has been presented at national and international medical
    conferences. Dr. Metrus earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean and
    went on to complete his residency in neurology at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
    Dr. Metrus is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
