• Dr. Nia Zalamea is a general surgeon based in Memphis, TN with experience in a range of surgical procedures including breast, general, colorectal, and thyroid surgery, as well as global health. She completed her residency in Surgery at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital from 2004-2009 after graduating from East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine in 2004. Dr. Zalamea is currently the Assistant Dean Student Affairs at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, a General Surgeon at UT Regional One Physicians, and an Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Her research has been published in various medical journals such as The Journal of Surgical Research and International Journal of Surgery Case Reports. Among her awards, she has received the Meaningful Use Stage 1 Certification from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award.
