- Newaj M. Abdullah, MD, is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Abdullah is currently an Anesthesiology Resident at the Baylor College of Medicine. Previously, Dr. Abdullah has spent one year at the Vattikuti Urology Institute at the Henry Ford Health System and completed a Clinical Research Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery. Subsequently, Dr. Abdullah completed one year at Geisinger Health System to complete his internship in General Surgery. Dr. Abdullah has a special interest in optimizing perioperative care and, identify effective ways to streamline medical care to reduce length of stays, curtail readmission rate, and ultimately, reduce unnecessary healthcare cost.
Prior to obtaining his medical degree, Dr. Abdullah completed bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Engineering from the Stanford University and the University of Michigan, respectively. Earlier in his research career, Dr. Abdullah has focused his effort in the realm of basic sciences research where he studied role of microparticles and exosomes in the pathophysiology of deep vein thrombosis. Dr. Abdullah has also served as a formulations engineer at the NanoBio Corporation where his research focused on delivering nanoparticles to the therapeutic target.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Abdullah is very passionate about child education, photography and playing the sitar.
