Summary

  • Dr. Stollman is originally from New York and attended Wesleyan University and New York University School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Residency at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York and later went on to Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Advanced Hepatobiliary Endoscopy at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He stayed on there as faculty as Chief of Gastroenterology at the Miami VA Medical Center, until 2000 when he was recruited to become Chief of Gastroenterology at San Francisco General Hospital, and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of California San Francisco. He happily exchanged his Bay Bridge commute for mornings with his kids when he joined his current practice in Oakland in 2005. He is currently Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland, and President of Northern California Gastroenterology Consultants.

Dr. Stollman has authored many book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on C. Difficile, diverticular disease, reflux disease, H. pylori, gastrointestinal bleeding, dysmotility, and Barrett's esophagus. He is the Director of the East Bay Center for Digestive Health Research Center , performing and publishing clinical research, and teaches frequently at UCSF, HGH/ACMC and SMU.

He lives in Oakland with his wife and two children, a near-genius golden retriever, a decidedly less smart but lovable bernese mountain dog, and a cute but territorial dwarf bunny rabbit named Ralph, whom both dogs are afraid of.
