Summary

  • I am a board-certified psychiatrist who has the honor and privilege of serving our nation's Soldiers and Veterans, in the US Army and at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, Florida. I have more than 17 years of experience in clinical medicine, with extensive management of pharmaceutical agents in direct patient care, and interaction with key opinion leaders who have advanced clinical research and systems-based practice in the service of individuals and families affected by mental illnesses. I have first-authored a basic science research article in the Journal of Neuro-Oncology, exploring molecular mechanisms in nervous system tumors.

I have more than 17 years of experience in teaching/coaching medical students, and more than 13 years of experience as an attending psychiatrist, leading treatment teams in highly collaborative, fast-paced, high-risk hospital environments. I take responsibility for the whole patient, including direct management of mental health and substance use disorders, and close collaboration with primary care providers and other specialists in the management of medical issues including cardiovascular disease, diabetes and COPD.

What I enjoy the most about my job: I love listening to my Soldiers and Veterans, learning about what is important to them, and working with them to achieve their goals. I also love working as a team with my colleagues.

Favorite outdoor activity: Daily physical training at zero dark thirty.

One of my role models: Mort Fertel, Author of Marriage Fitness, which has helped me become a better husband and father.

Dog or cat? I love cats.

Favorite movies: 1. Back to the Future. 2. Top Gun: Maverick.
  • "Doubts" (Narrative Training Video for the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs) [DEC

This training film reminds VA employees that how they approach returning Vets can make a critical difference in whether those Vets choose to receive VA benefits
