She completed her medical education at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Internal Medicine Residency at Vanderbilt and pursued further specialization in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine through Fellowship training at Johns Hopkins University. She serves as the Associate Program Director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Program. Dr. West’s expertise is in clinical trial design and conduct; she has been a co-investigator in multiple clinical trials in CF pulmonary exacerbations as a national investigator in the Standardized Treatment of Pulmonary Exacerbations (STOP) program. She has been integral in the design and conduct of three large trials through the STOP program. Additionally, Dr. West is one of 5 national investigators who founded the Sexual Health, Reproduction, and Gender Research (SHARING) Working Group, who has identified gaps in knowledge around health issues that impact women with CF and developed the infrastructure needed to conduct multiple clinical studies. Dr. West has published expert opinion and guidelines, spoken at national and international conferences, and has conducted numerous clinical trials in both areas, to understand the long-term impacts on health outcomes in people with CF.
