- Dr. Patel completed her medical studies at Baroda Medical College in Gujarat, India in 1978, and proceeded to complete her General Psychiatry residency at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Staten Island, New York in 1986. She worked as a staff psychiatrist at that hospital in the inpatient unit and emergency department before moving to Virginia in 1989. Since 1992, Dr. Patel has been practicing adult psychiatry in the greater Hampton Roads area, spending over 20 years with Independence Therapy Center before starting her own practice in August of 2017. Her primary focus is on Depression, Anxiety, and Bipolar Disorders as well as ADHD.
