I had to give up my surgical career in 2012 after a spontaneous rupture of C5-C6 resulted in permanent nerve damage to my dominant (right thumb). I am now practicing the medicine side of my license as a medical director in post acute long-term care. My wife is still practicing family medicine in AZ. Our three daughter all want to be docs. Our two oldest are pre-med at NAU and have 4.0 GPAs. Proud Papa!!! I took a position in NY to gain experience in my new career and am on track to become board certified in PALTC.
