- Monica Mita, M.Sc., M.H.D.S., is a medical oncologist at Hoag Family Cancer Institute specializing in breast cancer and development of new therapies for cancer. An accomplished researcher, Dr. Mita has focused on phase I clinical trials in oncology, novel drugs and targeted therapies. She has served as the principal investigator and co-principal investigator on over 100 research studies. After earning her Medical Degree at the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, she completed her specialty training in cancer research at Paul Brousse Hospital in Villejuif, France and the Rene Huguenin Center in Saint-Cloud, France, including obtaining a Masters Degree in Science. She received additional specialty training in oncology at the Claudius Regaud Center, Purpan Hospital, the Saint-Antoine Hospital and Childrens Hospital, in France. Dr. Mita completed an Advanced Oncology Drug Development fellowship and an Oncology fellowship at the University of Texas, Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. She also completed an executive master’s degree in Health Delivery Science from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Mita has authored and co-authored more than 200 clinical abstracts, primarily focusing on the effects of various drugs on breast cancer treatment. She has given numerous lectures and presented more than 100 abstracts internationally. Dr. Mita is a member of the American Society for Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research and the Southwest Oncology Group, Breast and Early Therapeutics.
