- My name is Monica Leigh, Psychiatric and Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. I have lived in the Austin area for 20 years and practiced Nursing for 25 years; 10 as a Nurse Practitioner. I am board certified from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in Primary Care and the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Psychiatric and Mental Health for children, adolescents and adults.
I specialize in the treatment of depression, adjustment and mood disorders, PTSD, bipolar and anxiety disorders. I practice using the bio-psychosocial model of psychiatric disorders and apply elements of the cognitive behavioral approach during medication management visits.
I chose to go into psychatry when I noticed the lack of access to quality mental health services, particularly in undeserved populations.
