Overview of Dr. Chorost
Dr. Mitchell Chorost is currently the Director of Surgical Oncology and Chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at St Francis Hospital. He has extensive experience in the treatment of gastrointestinal and breast cancers. Prior to joining St Francis, he served as the Director of Surgical Oncology and Associate Director of the Cancer Center at New York Hospital Queens. Prior to that, he was the Associate Program Director in the Department of Surgery and Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncology at Maimonides Medical Center in
Brooklyn. He is an avid researcher, obtaining multiple research grants, authoring numerous articles in surgical journals and textbooks as well as presenting at both national and regional meetings. He is well regarded in the New York community, earning numerous accolades for his quality and patient-centered care.
Dr. Chorost received his medical degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey and completed his residency in general surgery at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He then completed his fellowship in surgical oncology at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo. Dr. Chorost is a board-certified surgeon as well as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
