Summary

• Dr. Mita Patel is a Breast Surgical Oncologist and Medical Director of the Breast Program at Mercy Health, Lorain. She was previously at the Cleveland Clinic and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Case Western Reserve University. She completed her Breast Surgical Oncology fellowship at Akron General Medical Center. Dr. Patel is an expert in the management of breast cancer. Dr. Patel has a strong interest in advanced surgical techniques including minimally invasive breast surgery, hidden scars, oncoplastic surgery, skin sparing and nipple sparing mastectomy. She has a passion for treating women with breast cancer as well as those with genetic and high-risk disease. She also has a strong interest on surgical techniques that minimizes postoperative pain. She has vast experience in treating recurrent breast cancer, breast angiosarcomas, metaplastic breast cancers, and fibromatosis of the breast. She is actively involved with the community, volunteering at several health fairs, talks at local PTAs and high schools to promote breast health care. Dr. Patel currently serves as an active committee member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She is a Fellow with the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Patel earned her medical degree from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. She completed her internship and residency and the North Shore – Long Island Jewish Health System (now Northwell) in N.Y. She lives in Cleveland, Ohio.
