Summary

  • I am Board-Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. I am also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
I am a graduate of Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tennessee... a long family tradition. I completed a general surgery internship at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C., followed by ophthalmology residency at State University of New York- Downstate Medical Center Health Science Center Brooklyn and then a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic & reconstructive surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, as well as an externship in Austin, Texas with John Shore, M.D., the then President of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASOPRS).
I have authored and co-authored book chapters and numerous articles in scientific journals. I have presented in local, national, and international forums in my sub-specialty as well as on the worldwide web.
My practice has been focused on cancers, traumas and cosmetic and functional aging issues around the eyes. My clinical goal is to provide functional, and beautiful results with each procedure performed.
After 12 years of private practice, I returned to my original passion of academics and have created two new ACGME-approved ophthalmology residency programs, University of Massachusetts Chan School of Medicine in 2019 and at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix in 2024.
I speak broadly on a wide variety of topics from inspiration to academics.
