• Dr. Miroslav Uchal FACS FASMBS is a general surgeon in Jacksonville, FL and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Ascension Medical Center Riverside and Medical Center Southside. He received his medical degree from Pavol Jozef Safarik University Faculty of Medicine and has been in training and practice in different countries such as Slovakia, Check Republic, Germany, Norway, Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh PA. After passing 2 residencies (one in Europe/second in US) and 3 fellowships he was a director in MIS education and simulation lab for surgical resident in US and for surgeons in Norway.
  Currently, he is a Director for bariatrics and MIS surgery in Jacksonville.
  He specializes in bariatric surgery and is experienced in bariatric surgery revisions, conversion, diagnostics. He does his own EGD and every fluoroscopy in radiology department is done in his presence.
  He is the busiest and considered the best bariatric surgeon in North Florida.
  He is fanatics in new technology and new equipment; he has the largest collection of patient who received bariatric surgery with 2 mm micro-instruments, over 900, and number is still growing. That means no scar and no pain and minimal trauma to abdominal wall - the holly grail of MIS! But standard for Miro Uchal!
  He believes in eTEP for ventral hernia and his teacher Jorge Daes from Colombia is the father of this technique.
  Miro traveled to Jorge's hospital just to see how it is done, but he got much much more.
  Now-days Miro loves eTEP and is the one of few using this new technique in Florida for hernias. Results, recovery, anatomy view - one must to see.
  However list of his surgical skills rises annually, list of procedures he masters are growing. Each procedure has to be perfectly design and executed.
  In free time he enjoys his wife's company ,large Italian mastiff and water activities on St. Johns River or on his favorite island Bonaire - kingdom of windsurfing and diving.
