Summary
- In the 26 years since graduation from Baylor College of Medicine, one of the first masters-level Physician Assistant programs in the country, my practice settings have evolved from inpatient care at an academic institution, with oncology, nephrology and infectious disease, to outpatient internal medicine in a suburban health system, to rural family practice in a healthcare provider shortage area, and then most recently to the patient-centered medical home model of a community health center. The experiences have been broad, valuable, and personally and professionally rewarding.
I am now working to bring these varied clinical experiences to bear in the academic setting. The privilege of teaching, supporting, and mentoring future generations of physician assistants is the most rewarding means of both giving back and paying forward into the profession that has given me so much.
