His motto ‘the patient comes first’ is evident in his daily practice and reflects values he developed during his years at the Mayo Clinic. Dr Murr was voted by his peers as the Top Bariatric Surgeon in Tampa.
Dr. Murr is one of the pioneers of bariatric surgery and has served in leadership roles in many national scientific organizations. He lectures worldwide and has coauthored more than 140 scientific publications and trained 30 surgical fellows. He currently serves on the Editorial Board of many bariatric scientific journals and maintains an active role in education and research.
Founder of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Florida State Chapter, Dr. Murr has been influential in the medical community. An advocate for people with obesity, Dr. Murr has been instrumental in working with Florida Legislature, encouraging insurance companies and employers to support comprehensive obesity management. Dr Murr is embedded in the community and has lived in Tampa for the last 20 years.
