Summary
- Dr. Michael “Logan” Rawlins, MD, FACS, specializes in bariatric surgery and the treatment of obesity. He is an expert in surgical procedures that help people control their food intake, lose weight, and resolve obesity-related medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, dyslipidemia, sleep apnea, and reflux.
Dr. Rawlins earned his medical degree in 2006 from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, and then completed his general surgery residency at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He then completed fellowship training in advanced minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Dr. Rawlins then spent the next seven years of his career in service to his country as a service member of the United States Air Force. During this time while he was stationed at Travis AFB, California, Dr Rawlins was the Chief of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Director of the Bariatric Surgery program, and Program Director for the Military General Surgery Residency. Lieutenant Colonel Rawlins deployed two separate times throughout the globe in support of our county’s ongoing national defense and was awarded two service medals for his leadership and dedicated work ethic.
In 2020, Dr Rawlins finished his service in the military and moved to Pittsburgh, PA, to join the Allegheny Health Network Bariatric & Metabolic Institute. He was very excited to join this growing and thriving bariatric surgery practice, which is an MBSAQIP certified bariatric center of excellence, complete with full in-house dietary, psychological, and medical weight loss support. If you live around the Pittsburgh area and have interest in weight loss surgery, please reach out to our practice to inquire about attending one of our educational information sessions and a new patient appointment with Dr Rawlins.
