- Educated initially at Furman University, Michael Overcash, MPAS, PA-C, DSDPA, DFAAPA completed two additional degrees at the Medical University of South Carolina and the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. The latter degree included a capstone thesis project in biologics. His specialty training in immunology has proven valuable as he is now a key opinion leader in the evolving landscape of therapeutics in medical dermatology.
Michael holds additional diplomate status with the SDPA, was inducted into the Pi Alpha Honor Society, and in 2024 was promoted to the highest honor for PAs: Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of PAs. He has been voted Best Dermatologist for Charleston and Berkeley, Charleston’s Choice, Healthcare Hero, and PA of the Year.
In addition to his dermatology practice, he serves as clinical faculty for 6 universities, is the Principal Investigator for research at Trident Dermatology, and for 9 years has been the Department Editor for Dermatology for the most widely read PA publication in the world: JAAPA.
Overcash is fluent in 3 languages and leads medical projects and mission teams several times a year, now having served in over 50 different countries. He was a founding board member of One World Health, which has provided care for over a million lives in developing nations. He chose dermatology specifically for the purpose of providing life-changing surgeries around the globe for those who have no access to quality specialty care.
Michael enjoys the outdoors, especially surfing and snowboarding with his wife Kristen (PA, pediatrics) and 4 school-age children. He is passionate about providing the best care possible for his patients and positively impacting others whenever possible.
