Summary

• I am a native of London, England and obtained both an undergraduate and medical degree from University College, London. I completed my internship and initial anesthesia training in the UK and relocated to Israel, for several years, before moving to the USA in 1990.
  
  I undertook additional clinical training at Albert Einstein in Philadelphia and in South Florida at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Following this, in 1995, I joined the faculty of the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. There I served in the Anesthesiology Department as the Medical Student Clerkship Director, the Residency Program Director, the Chief of the Veterans Administration Anesthesiology services and the Vice Chair of the Department. At the institutional level, I served as Chair of the Medical School Faculty Council, Vice Speaker of the University Senate, Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education. During my time in Miami I was also privileged to be appointed as a Fulbright Scholar and received a Hartford award from the American Geriatric Society.
  
  In July, 2013, I moved to the University of Florida, College of Medicine (Jacksonville) as Chair of Anesthesiology. Then in October 1, 2015 when I accepted the position as System Chair for the Department of Anesthesiology at the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan.
  
  Throughout my career I have been active in organized medicine. I have served on the boards of the Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA); the Society for the Advancement of Geriatric Anesthesia (SAGA: President); the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists (FSA: President); the Michigan Society of Anesthesiologists (MSA; Secretary/Treasurer); and the American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA: Committee Chair, Section Chief, and Director).
  
  I serve on the Council of the Society of Academic Associations of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine (SAAAPM), I serve as the Director of Academic Medicine on the ASA Board & President elect.
  
  I serve on the Michigan BOM.
