Overview of Dr. Levitt
I am an associate professor of Neurological Surgery and Radiology and an adjunct associate professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington. I am also the Scientific Director of the Stroke and Applied Neuroscience Center. My specialty is cerebrovascular/endovascular neurosurgery with a focus on minimally invasive treatment of stroke. My research, which is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health and American Heart Association among others, involves applying computational fluid dynamics, 3D printing, synchrotron microtomography and materials science principles to the modeling of brain blood flow and hemorrhagic stroke. I am an Assistant Editor of the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery and a grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association. I also serve as neurosurgical quality assurance officer at Harborview Medical Center/Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Associate Program Director for the Neurological Surgery residency program at Harborview Medical Center.
