Summary
- I am currently a 7th year neurosurgery resident at the University at Buffalo with a strong academic interest in functional neurosurgery and epilepsy. I am planning on attending fellowship at Jefferson University and am looking for full-full time employment starting in the summer of 2021. In 2017, as part of my research year, I worked with Dr. Ojemann in Seattle as part of both a clinical rotation in epilepsy and signal processing data analysis research. My work from the year includes one primary publication on detection of epileptogenic areas during inter-ictal recordings, is published in the Journal of Neurosurgery. My previous education also includes a PhD in molecular neuroscience and an undergraduate thesis in language learning.
I have pursued medicine with a strong interest in academics thought my career. My goals for the future are to utilize my diverse academic research backgrounds in behavioral science, molecular biology, and electrophysiology to bridge the many gaps in the basic understanding of computer brain interfaces and neuromodulation. Further, I hope to work in both academic and industry settings to bring these technologies to practical application.
In both science and medicine, I find that collaboration is one of the most important aspects of success. I am looking to find a program that encourages an environment of interdisciplinary interaction to accomplish these two ends. Further, I enjoy working in a teaching environment both for my own education and to participate in the learning of other people. For all these reasons I am primarily focused on finding an academic position for future employment.
My fiancé practices primary care medicine for adult and pediatric patients. We are both interested in living in an outdoor friendly area and enjoy activities such as skiing and hiking.
