He received his medical degree from the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine and his PhD from the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in 1995. After residency training in Pediatrics and fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at Mayo Clinic, he joined Mayo Clinic's faculty in 2000. He specializes in genetic cardiology and takes care of patients and families at risk of premature sudden cardiac death from a variety of genetic heart diseases like long QT syndrome and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in the Windland Smith Rice Genetic Heart Rhythm Clinic. His research team is devoted to "healing the sick and advancing the science" as it relates to these genetic channelopathies and cardiomyopathies.
