Summary
- Dr. Katz grew up in rural Wisconsin before pursuing an undergraduate degree in biology and psychology at Swarthmore College. After graduation, he taught high school biology in an underserved community in Texas through “Teach For America.” He then attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Katz pursued his general surgery training at the University of Utah, where he received numerous awards of excellence, including Pediatric Surgery Resident of the Year, Surgical Intensive Care Unit Resident of the Year and General Surgery Intern of the Year. He also completed a fellowship in global medicine at the Center for Global Surgery where his research focused on expanding surgical capacity in Northern Ghana. Dr. Katz joined CMA in October, 2020, excited to join the tightknit Cayuga Health medical community. He enjoys exploring the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes Region with his family.
