  • Melvania has a diverse healthcare background which includes psychiatry, community based research and a longstanding commitment to primary care. For the past 30 years, Melvania dedicated her PA career to treating the whole person as she cares for patients who experience mental illness, addictions and multiple chronic conditions. She educates advance practice providers (APP), physicians and other health professionals as well as the public about mental health and addictive diseases in primary care settings. Prior to joining the Durham VA Medical Center, Melvania was on faculty at the Duke University Physician Assistant Program.
