  • Dr. Mauricio Mandel obtained his medical degree at the University of Sao Paulo and did his Neurosurgery residency at Hospital das Clínicas of University of Sao Paulo Medical School. Upon graduation, he received the “Edmundo Vasconcelos” prize as the best student in all surgical disciplines. Additionally, Dr. Mandel did a Clinical Ph.D. on Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery at the University of Sao Paulo from 2013 to 2018. He worked as an attending neurosurgeon at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein (Sao Paulo) and Hospital das Clinicas of University of Sao Paulo from 2010 to 2019. In 2019 he decided to move to the USA and joined Stanford University as a Clinical Instructor, working with Dr. Gary Steinberg. Then, he underwent further training in Epilepsy Surgery at Yale University, New Haven, CT.

    Currently, He is at Department of Neurosurgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida with focus in Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery (Cranial and Spine surgery)

    Dr. Mandel is Board Certified by the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery and has Full Medical License in Florida State.

    Dr. Mandel has a strong commitment to academic neurosurgery. He has authored and co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed papers, 40 neurosurgical meeting presentations, and 10 book chapters, in addition to collaborations in microsurgical courses and academic teaching activities in international centers. His main area of research is minimally invasive neurosurgery (head and spine) focused on vascular/ skull base and epilepsy surgery.
