- Dr. Matthew Torrington is a specialist in Addiction Medicine and is board certified by the American board of Preventive Medicine. In 1998 he completed his medical education at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA and in 2001 his residency (PGY1 in OBGYN and then Family Medicine) at Christiana Care in Wilmington, DE. Dr. Torrington completed a two year clinical research fellowship at UCLA and was a NIH LRP award recipient. Since 2002 Dr. Torrington has contributed to numerous clinical trials, mostly at UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs, in roles ranging from study physician to consultant to principle investigator. Torrington authored book chapters and has been published in numerous research papers mostly regarding addiction, medications for opioid use disorder, and pain. Dr. Torrington has served as the founder and Medical Director of numerous programs over the past 2 decades of clinical work. From starting elite Malibu programs that continue to operate to founding a free clinic at Common Ground/Westside that evolved into the Venice Family Clinic's current robust Addiction Medicine service Torrington has a wide and varied clinical background. Dr. Torrington currently serves as the Medical director at Cri Help where he has been on staff for over 20 years. Since 2010, Dr. Torrington has been focused on his private practice which offers "longitudinal disease management" of substance use disorders and some pain. His paradigm focuses on helping individuals develop and implement comprehensive individualized multi-modal treatment plans over time.
