Summary
- I am a board-certified neurologist, clinical neurophysiologist, and epileptologist with a diverse practice involving inpatient and outpatient neurology, clinical research, and administrative work. During my neurology and neurophysiology training at Duke, I developed an abiding fondness for my colleagues and patients, so it was an easy decision to stay on as an attending physician. I have the privilege of working with patients in both the hospital and clinic. As a hospital neurologist, my interests are in the diagnosis and treatment of acute neurologic problems, such as seizures, head injuries, infections, and autoimmune conditions. My outpatient practice focuses on the treatment of epilepsy in patients with hard-to-control seizures. In both the hospital and clinic, I have the pleasure of working with the excellent medical students, residents, and fellows of Duke University Hospital, along with nationally and internationally recognized colleagues. My research involves the surgical management of refractory epilepsy patients and the management of hospital patients undergoing targeted temperature management for cardiac arrest. I am the Director of Quality for the Duke Department of Neurology, and manage departmental credentialing, along with QI projects in clinical documentation, patient safety, and mortality.
