He graduated summa cum laude from the Honors Program at the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He subsequently earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, and then completed a pediatric residency at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Fazekas then completed a sports medicine fellowship through Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, at Boston Children’s Hospital.
