- Dr. Matthew Bartindale is an otolaryngologist with a special interest in ear disease, hearing loss, and skull base surgery. He is experienced in minimally invasive ear surgery, where he performs a large proportion of his surgeries completely through the ear canal, avoiding an external incision (and never shaving hair). Dr. Bartindale’s additional clinical interests include pediatric ENT, thyroid disease, and nose and sinus disease.
Dr. Bartindale earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame. He graduated cum laude at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine with honors in bioethics and professionalism. His otolaryngology residency was also completed at Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Bartindale subsequently completed a fellowship in advanced otology and lateral skull base surgery at Puget Sound ENT in Seattle, Washington.
Dr. Bartindale has been involved in research with numerous publications and presentations at national meetings. Most of his research has focused on cochlear implants and the management of lateral skull base tumors. He placed in Loyola’s Girgis Resident Research Competition every year during residency. He is committed to providing innovative care for his patients. He has expertise in chronic ear disease, cochlear implants, bone anchored hearing aid placement, acoustic neuroma (vestibular schwannoma) removal, cerebrospinal fluid leak repair, Meniere’s disease, and superior semicircular canal dehiscence syndrome.
Dr. Bartindale is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society. He was first connected to Joliet when he worked at the Will Grundy Free Medical Clinic for a summer during college.
