- Matthew B. Anastasi, M.D. is a family and sports medicine specialist at Mayo Clinic Arizona, where he treats patients of all levels, including pediatric patients, elite marathoners and Ironman participants. His interests include concussion diagnosis and management; injuries of the knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow and hip; and other pediatric sports injuries. He earned his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine and completed his family medicine residency at West Virginia University and was nominated resident of the year. After, he participated in a sports medicine fellowship at St. Joseph’s Hospital/Arizona State University in Tempe. In 2012, he received the Arnold P Gold Humanism in Medicine Award and is currently a team physician for the Arizona Diamondbacks and for USA Basketball. He is one of the medical directors for both the Fiesta Bowl and Cactus Bowls. Dr. Anastasi is an instructor in orthopedics at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
